Description

Steel Crate Games · 2015

One player — the Defuser — sits in front of a bomb, on a screen or in VR, and is the only one who can touch it. The other players are Experts: they hold the Bomb Defusal Manual, a free printable document, and are not allowed to see the bomb. Neither side can do anything alone. The Defuser has to describe what is in front of them accurately enough for the Experts to find the right page; the Experts have to ask the questions that make the description usable. A timer runs, and wrong actions cost strikes.

The game began at Global Game Jam 2014 and was built around this split: the whole of the play is in the talking, and the interface each side holds is designed so that it is useless without the other.

The bomb as the Defuser sees it: a case of modules — a keypad, a wire panel, a big red button — and a countdown reading 5:00
