SampleRate is an interactive sound installation in which light is the shared interface. Participants pick up custom 3D-printed torches whose beams strobe in clock-synchronised subdivisions of one common tempo — each torch is assigned a different subdivision, so several people playing at once layer interlocking polyrhythms that stay on the same pulse.

Sweeping a beam through the darkened room reveals a net of photoresistor nodes suspended overhead. A beam striking a node fires a one-shot sample; the continuous strobing retriggers it into a pattern. Aiming is the performance: where you point, how fast you sweep, and which node you hold determine what you contribute.
