What it says
Not every interaction should be the thing you are doing. Some should sit at the edge of attention, running alongside a main activity without interrupting it — the way you adjust your posture without deciding to.
Does it hold for my work
I recorded this as a maybe: an installation in a public space, an audience walking through, engagement happening while they are on their way somewhere else. That description does fit the exhibition condition.
But it argues against the thing I am actually building. Gamefulness requires a feedback loop the player is inside — rules, a goal, and the awareness that what you just did changes what you do next. That is foreground attention by definition.
Why it is parked
It is not wrong; it belongs to a different design intention than mine. Keeping the page so that if a version of the work ever runs as ambient background in a room, I know the literature exists.
